Designing for the screen for over 15 years, with a product focus since 2014.

About Me

I’m Casey. I run a UX Studio that focuses on building tools people rely on every day. For more than 15 years I’ve designed across web, mobile and systems work. The last decade has been centered on complex operational environments like logistics, field services, marketplaces and enterprise platforms.

My work sits at the intersection of product, design and execution. I don’t just ship screens. I define problems, align stakeholders, make decisions and partner with engineering to deliver outcomes the business can feel. I’ve worked with startups, growth companies and Fortune 500 teams and the goal has always been the same. Reduce noise. Strengthen clarity. Help people do their jobs without fighting the tools in front of them.

I care deeply about design as a craft but I care even more about the impact it has on people and operations. When tools are confusing, work slows down. Costs rise. Mistakes compound. When tools are clear, teams move faster and leadership can trust what is happening in the field. That’s the lens I bring to every engagement.

How I Think About Product

Great product design has to work today and scale tomorrow. It lives at the intersection of user needs, business goals and technical reality. That means moving fast when you can, slowing down when it matters and building systems that grow without falling apart.

My approach is simple:

  • Start by understanding the real job the user is trying to get done
  • Define a clear MVP that solves that job cleanly
  • Add moments of delight that create trust and momentum
  • Validate decisions early so risk shows up where you can manage it
  • Deliver with consistency, quality and respect for engineering

I believe in designing for scale from day one. Not with unnecessary complexity but with foundations that expand naturally as the product matures. Tokens, systems, reusable patterns, naming, accessibility and content strategy all matter. They reduce friction for teams, lower long-term cost and keep the product coherent as it grows.

At the same time the craft still matters. Small details shape how people feel about a product and whether they trust it. A clear message. The right default state. The extra touch that shows you thought about the real world.

For me, product design is about making good decisions with imperfect information then continuing to refine the system as the truth reveals itself.

Clarity creates confidence. Confidence drives adoption. Adoption drives value.

How I Work With Clients & Teams

I partner closely. I ask questions. I get into the details. I don’t disappear and come back with something you never asked for.

That usually looks like:

  • Tight discovery with the people closest to the work
  • Alignment around real constraints and goals
  • Fast iteration
  • Clear prioritization
  • Strong documentation so decisions hold up over time

And when it’s time to ship, I stay involved to make sure the intent behind the design survives delivery.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time on the trail. Hiking is a big part of my life and I get out year-round. I really enjoy winter hikes and fresh snow.

I also like quiet nights in with family and friends. Good conversation, a movie and a cup of tea is usually my ideal night.

Twice a week I volunteer at a local animal shelter where I help care for cats in need. I also have two of my own!

And I’m a lifelong Kansas basketball fan. I have not missed a game in more than 25 years. Rock Chalk!

Let’s talk!

If you’re looking for thoughtful, outcomes-driven product design, I’d love to hear what you’re working on.

Say hi!
